I’ve always loved drawing and fine art.
I was born in Norfolk, VA. I was awarded a certificate for “outstanding creative expression in the field of fine arts” upon graduation from Booker T. Washington High School in 1964.
Next, I studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Even though I was a fine art major I also took courses in advertising design. My first job out of college was as an assistant art director for the advertising agency Young & Rubicam in New York City.
For years I continued to work as an art director, creative director, illustrator, and designer while maintaining a fine arts studio. This suited me very well as for me the line between fine arts and graphic arts is often indistinguishable.
Over the years I have traveled extensively in the U.S., North Africa, Europe, and Japan. Travel has always been key to the nourishment of my creative perspective and spirit.
For the past several years I have devoted my energies exclusively to my fine arts work at my studio on Cape Cod.
